Wednesday, September 11 - AM Fluency
We began by brainstorming topics for tomorrow’s debate. Here are the two topics:
Argue pro or con: It is better to stay in your native country than to move to another country.
Argue pro or con: Uniforms should be mandatory in k-12 schools.
We then finished the Time article about immigration. The article described the radical change of attitude toward refugee immigration in this country between 1980 and today. Forty years ago, there was bipartisan support for refugees. Today, many people see refugees as a threat to the country.
We then listened to “The Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. We talked about Vikings and about Iceland. Daiane made it her mission to find me an “I am your overlord” shirt.
