Thursday, September 5 - AM Fluency
We practiced our learning outcome today: Listen to an automated telephone system and determine the correct number to press for specific needs.
Our class had a treat today because Vinayak, a student in the class, taught us about the Chakras. In preparation for his lesson, we had a conversation addressing the following question: Have you ever had a “spiritual experience” (defining “spiritual experience” however you like)? Most of us shared experiences we’ve had in nature.
Then Vinayak told us about the seven Chakras. His lesson led us to conversations about world religions, medicinal scents, meditation, the kama sutra, and gardening.
We then began a Time magazine article about immigration, an article written by a refugee from Ethiopia. We concluded class by listening to Simon & Garfunkel’s song “America.” We enjoyed analyzing the lyrics and asking questions about gabardine suits, Saginaw, MI, and what it means to “look for America.”
