Wednesday, January 17 - PM Advanced/Fluency

Since Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was on Monday, I began a unit on MLK. Today we alternated lectures on MLK’s life with group discussion about topics relevant to that subject. Lecture topics: an overview of racism in the United States and the rise of the Civil Rights Movement; the early years of MLK. Topics for group discussion: prejudice, discrimination, and racism in your country; leaders fighting discrimination in your country; peacemakers, freedom fighters, and activists you admire.
