Thursday, March 7 - AM Advanced

Opening discussion question: Describe the last debate/argument you were involved in. This opening discussion prepared us for the focus of class today: our SLO, giving opinions on familiar topics and explaining them by giving reasons and examples. 

Students then needed to form two opinions using the following categories: education, business, religion/spirituality, politics, sports, entertainment, music, and food. We heard a lot of fascinating opinions: Education systems should have fewer than twelve grades; Education should include lessons in religious literacy; the creation of music was the most influential event in history; Brazilian pizza is better than pizza in the United States. We enjoyed wide-ranging, interesting, and occasionally provocative discussion.
