Opening conversation: Describe United States culture in three words. A sample of what was said: opportunity, independent, freedom, polite, practical, selfish, capitalism, fast food.

We read the article on culture shock together. Afterwards, students shared their own experiences of culture shock and specified which of the three phases of culture shock they have experienced. 

We then played a game: pretend I am going to move to your native city, your native country. Prepare me for that move so that I do not experience much culture shock. I am now prepared to move to numerous countries: Brazil, Turkey, Colombia, Uruguay, Bangladesh, Chile, and Saudi Arabia.
