Monday, April 1 - AM Advanced

We reviewed chapter four before moving on to chapter five. We learned all about the “Wild West.” We then listened to two Wild West songs, one old one by Gene Autry and one newer one by Neil Young.

We then practiced our learning objective: each student shared their opinion on their favorite film genre.

We turned to chapter five. Since it was about Native Americans, I asked each student to share some information about the indigenous people of their native countries. The Brazilians talked about the “Indians” of their country. The only other country represented in class today was Italy. Who are the indigenous people of Italy? Who knows? The best that I could do was retell the story of Virgil’s Aeneid, how Aeneas the Trojan fled the burning city of Troy to found a new civilization, which had Rome as its epicenter. According to this legend, the original Italians came from Troy, which is modern-day Turkey.

We read half of chapter five and will finish tomorrow.
