Ditto on capital letters given as they entered.

1. Ice Breaker - Give name, country, and how long you’ve been in this country. 

Then tell us your “Pet Peeve”.  (This was a new term for them.)

1.  Students were given a picture of a park where a lot of activity was going on.  They were told to write a paragraph about the picture.  (PreTest for me to see where they are.)

2. Go over capitalization ditto.  Discuss the error found in each sentence.

3. Have students partner up and come up with THINGS I KNOW ABOUT WRITING PARAGRAPHS.

4. Discuss items they came up with.

5. Point out “Show, Don’t Tell” and “Writing is painting a picture with words” that is written on board.  Discuss.

6. Give worksheet showing a telling paragraph and a showing paragraph. - Discuss.

7. Pair up and brainstorm what a monster would look like.  

8. Demonstrate mapping on board where they can fill in details found on the various body parts.

9. As partners, write a paragraph together for this topic sentence:  He really was a monster!
