Thursday, August 22 - AM Fluency

Highlight the three parts of a paragraph on a ditto containing 4 paragraphs.

1. Discuss.

2. Return papers from last week.

3. Discuss transitions.

4. Pass out a paper with examples of transitions.

5. Return to the paper listed in no. 1 and mark the transitions used in each of the 4 paragraphs.  Discuss.

6. List topic sentences on the board and have students choose 3 to write the 3 supporting details.

7. Choose 1 of the 3 ideas supported and write a paragraph,

8. Swap papers.  Write one positive comment.  Write a suggestion.  (“Indent first line of the paragraph.” - if they failed to do so..   “Leave a margin,”  if they  failed to do so.)

9. Give paper showing proofreading symbols.

10. Pass out a rubric - go over what they’re going to be “grading” .
