Opening discussion: what English words are commonly used in your native language? Some answers: “curious,” “trash,” and “funk.” 

We discussed our learning objective: giving and asking advice. I distributed a handout that provided some guidelines to follow. Then we practice the learning objective using the Side-by-Side textbook. 

We then finished chapter one of our textbook.
