Wednesday, October 30 - AM Advanced

This week, we indulge in Halloween-themed activities. Opening discussion: Share any memorable Halloween experiences: Halloween parties, trick or treating, horror films, etc. 

We then read an article explaining the history of Halloween: where it comes from, how it has changed, etc. The article generated conversations on a wide variety of topics: the most gruesome horror films (my vote–Martyrs (2008); the Catholic doctrine of purgatory; Hindu rituals involving goat sacrifices; juvenile pranks; and jack-o-lanterns, among many other topics. 

We then listened to a Halloween-themed song: “Dead Man’s Party,” by Oingo Boingo.
