Wednesday, October 16 - AM Fluency

We had an unexpected week-long break because of Hurricane Milton. This fact prompted our opening discussion: Describe any memorable experiences you’ve had in hurricanes. The ensuing conversation was good for all of us, allowing us to process some of the anxiety we experienced, especially in light of the many tornadoes that struck our area. 

Practicing one of our learning outcomes, we then reviewed our notes from Vinny’s lecture. It was important to ensure that we included in our notes the main ideas of Vinny’s lectures. 

We then continued reading the article on political violence. Along the way, we practiced our other learning outcome: identifying organizational strategies in articles, article sections, and paragraphs. We also enjoyed a wide-ranging conversation about American culture, politics, and anxieties about the upcoming presidential election.
