Friday, January 12 - AM Advanced/Intermediate
We started the class all together: body vocabulary OPD p. 104/105. First, the students had to touch the body parts that were called out, then the students tried the correct spelling on the board. We will review the words next class and add some body idioms (I’m all ears…”)
(Advanced: Lauren: True Stories #3 Story 5, plus random questions from the calendar))
True Stories #2: Two Happy Men
The students contemplated the title, what makes men happy? The answers varied from drinking together to celebrating a newborn baby/ grandbaby or getting a new client/ landing a business deal.
Then, we looked at the nine pictures, and the students guessed the story. After that I read the story out loud. The students had guessed the story very well!
Next, the students wrote a summary and checked each other’s writing.
After the break, the students shared their writing with the class, and I checked it too.
The students read the story out loud in pairs, taking turns. Then they dictated it to one another, before checking for spelling mistakes.
The students also completed the exercises from the book Then - with a rotating partner - the students answered the following questions:
Are you regularly playing the lottery? Buying lottery tickets? Why or why not?
Have you ever lost anything that was very important to you? Give details.
You win the lottery, $500,000 - what will you do with the money?
