Return papers; address questions

1. Conclusions - Provide ditto of paragraphs with missing conclusion.  Have students work together to create appropriate conclusions.  Share.

2. While going over paper, have students point out the three supporting details that belong to the Topic Sentence.  

1. Point out necessity of having each support be in its own sentence

2. Point out the three supports all relate to the topic sentence.

3. The conclusion can

1. Restate the main idea/topic sentence

2. Offer a suggestion

3. Give an opinion

4. Make a prediction

3. Topic sentences:

1. List the following topics on the board:

1. High school

2. Cars

3. Sleep

4. Sports

5. French Fries

6. Magazines

7. Families

8. Movies

2. Have students work together and

1. List details about the topic

2. Select three of the details that seem related

3. Think about their relationship to the topic

4. Create an appropriate topic sentence.

5.Select one of the topic sentences and write a paragraph using it and the previously brainstormed support details.  End with an appropriate conclusion.
