Our opening discussion was launched by this question: Describe the last good movie that you watched. This topic somehow turned into a challenging discussion about immigration–both legal and illegal–as well as the American attitude toward immigrants.

We began a unit on culture shock. Opening discussion: define culture shock, then describe a specific instance when you experienced it. 

We then reviewed vocab words for the article on culture shock that we will begin reading next class.
