Wednesday, August 14 - AM Advanced
Since this was the first day of the new term, we began with introductions. I first introduced myself and my class, which focuses on reading, conversation, and listening to songs and analyzing their lyrics. Students introduced each other: they interviewed a partner in class and shared what they learned about their partner.
By way of a diagnostic self-assessment, students then had a discussion addressing their strengths and weaknesses with the English language.
We then began reading an article entitled, “9 Reasons Why English is a Difficult Language to Learn.”
Finally, we listened to a song, a song that was on my Summer 2024 playlist: the Byrds’ “I Was Not Born to Follow.” We had fun interpreting this poetic and moving song.
