Today we completed the exercise on p. 61, the exercise that asks questions about chapter 4. We then read chapter 5, talking about the “Wild West.” After reading and analyzing chapter 5, we listened to two songs, analyzing their lyrics: Gene Autry’s “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” a classic western song, and Neil Young’s “Peaceful Valley Boulevard,” a country-rock song that critiques the so-called Great Western Migration.
