After splitting the SS up I had them make a few notes about a mistake they had made (like Joe), and then had them discuss with their partner (Ex. 4, p.5). I encouraged them to ask “what happened next?”, and “what’s the rest of the story?” Some of the SS didn’t seem comfortable with this exercise.
Then we did the writing exercise - put Joe’s story into the past tense.
We finished the class with a few vocabulary questions.
