Monica subbed for the first 20 minutes and introduced vocabulary about stores: genre, characters, setting, plot

I introduced other vocab about books: front cover, back cover, spine, glossary, paragraph, introduction

I read the story in small sections and a different student repeated each section. We addressed understanding and new vocab as we went. We got through only the first chapter.

The students came to the boards to fill in details about the setting, characters, and plot as we encountered them.

We did the post-reading questions for Ch. 1.
